Paul Kasmin Gallery is pleased to announce Landscapes, an exhibition of new and never-before-seen photographs by Tina Barney.
The exhibition will be on view from January 18 through March 3, 2018, at 297 Tenth Avenue. This is the artist’s first major New York solo exhibition in the past three years, and the first exhibition to feature a new body of work at Paul Kasmin Gallery. Barney first began her experimentation with landscape photography in the late 1980s using an 8 x 10-inch large format view camera, and would not revisit the subject matter again until the summer of 2017 when she returned to her familiar New England backdrop. With this group of works, Barney champions distant views of shingled homes, rocky coastal lines and small town thoroughfares, challenging herself to refine and build upon her compositional tactics.
